Equator Life Science Berhad (Equator) is principally engaged in propagation of various ornamental plants through the application of biotechnology. Equator was listed on the MESDAQ Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on 25th May 2005.

Unlike traditional growers who cultivate plants through conventional methods, the Equator Group uses a combination of biotechnology technique such as micro propagation and bioconversion to mass propogate ornamental plants in order to isolate and retain the best characteristics of parent plants.

The fundamental of micro propagation is tissue or cell culture. Currently, Equator produces plants through tissue culture technique whilst cell culture is in an advantage stage of R&D. Besides improving the quality of plants, tissue ulture is also capable to mass propagate in a shorter time frame. The Equator Group has also commenced R&D in genetic engineering to create novel plants by manipulating genes.

In total the Group has six (6) nurseries with a combined land area of approximately 1,706,500 sq. m.. Each nursery has its special characteristic that are suitable for producing specific type of plants.

COMPANY BACKGROUND
Founded in 1997 as Yi Hup Agriculture Development Sdn Bhd.. Subsequently on 1999, it changed its name to Equator Biotech Sdn. Bhd. (EBSB), the company was listed on the Kuala Lumpur Mesdaq Board under the holding company Equator Life Science Berhad.
